For a small US business that wants a proper business number on the phones it already has, Quo is the simplest place to start. It texts back every caller you miss and plugs into Jobber. It isn’t for UK businesses, and the per-user price adds up as the team grows.

Good fit if
Small teams wanting a shared business number with texting on their own phones.
Look elsewhere if
Businesses needing UK local numbers or a traditional desk-phone system.

Good

  • Automatic text replies to missed calls, during and after business hours, on every plan.
  • Native Jobber integration logs calls and texts, and its AI agent can create Jobber requests during a call.
  • Free number porting for US and Canadian numbers, usually 3–7 business days.
  • Its Sona AI agent includes 10 calls a month at no extra cost, and calls under 15 seconds aren’t counted.

Not so good

  • US and Canadian numbers only. Not an option for UK businesses.
  • Priced per user, from $19 a month each, so a five-person team starts at $95.
  • The Jobber and Housecall Pro integrations need the Business plan ($33 per user).
  • Sona can’t book into a calendar directly. It texts the caller a booking link instead.

Quo, which used to be called OpenPhone, gives you a business phone number that runs as an app on the mobiles you already carry. For a one-van business or a small team, that replaces a desk phone or a second handset. The part that matters most: it can automatically text anyone whose call you miss.

This is a research review. Everything below comes from Quo’s own pricing page and help centre, read on 8 and 9 October 2026. We haven’t used it on a real business line yet.

What it does

  • A shared business number. Calls and texts come into an app on everyone’s phone, so a missed call can be picked up by whoever’s free. Plans include unlimited calling and texting within the US and Canada, under a fair-use policy.
  • Automatic replies to missed calls. You set a text that goes out when a call isn’t answered, with separate replies for business hours and after hours. Each contact gets at most one auto-reply every three hours, so nobody gets spammed.
  • An AI agent, Sona, as an add-on. Sona answers calls, answers questions from information you give it, takes messages, writes summaries and transcripts, and can hand the call to a person.

What it costs

$19/mo per user· checked 8 Oct 2026 on quo.com on the Starter plan. Business is $33 and Scale is $47 per user a month, or $15, $23 and $35 billed annually (pricing page).

Sona is priced separately (Sona pricing):

Sona plan Calls included Extra calls
Free 10 a month $1.00 each
$25 a month 40 $0.75 each
$49 a month 100 $0.65 each
$99 a month 250 $0.55 each

Overage is off by default. When the included calls run out, calls go to your fallback, which is voicemail unless you change it. That stops surprise bills, but it also means callers stop reaching Sona once you’re over the allowance.

If you use Jobber or Housecall Pro

  • Jobber: a native integration on the Business and Scale plans. It syncs call summaries and transcripts to Jobber, matches callers to clients, and creates a Jobber request for new callers. Sona can create that request during a live call.
  • Housecall Pro: a native integration on Business and Scale, but only if you’re on Housecall Pro’s MAX or XL plan. It syncs contacts one way and logs calls and texts. It doesn’t create jobs.
  • Anything else connects through Zapier, Make or Quo’s API.

Keeping your number

Porting a US or Canadian number to Quo is free and usually takes 3–7 business days. For a landline you’d rather keep with its current provider, Quo suggests forwarding it to a Quo number instead.

Who it’s for

Quo suits US businesses of one to about twenty people who want one number the whole team can answer, texting from that number, and no missed caller left without a reply. If you’re in the UK, look at the business phone and answering calls use cases instead.
